United Way - A Great Fall Fundraiser

The United Way fundraiser occurs in the fall every year, usually in September or October.  I would like to extend a challenge to the student body and faculty of Theodore High School to start collecting your change now for the fall of 2010 United Way drive.

United Way is THE fundraiser to give to for several reasons.  First of all, all of the money given stays right here in our area.  Second of all, the United Way is a sort of umbrella charity in that it turns around and gives money to programs that do a great deal of good.  Some of the agencies that the United Way gives money to are the American Red Cross, the Bay Area Food Bank, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama, Habitat for Humanity, Drug Education Council, Family Counseling Center, and many more.  To see a list of agencies, click here.  http://www.uwswa.org/results/agencies.aspx#a.  Thirdly, United Way has established an emergency number that you can call when you know someone is in need but you don't know which agency to call.  Simply dial 211 and someone with United Way can put you in touch with someone who can help.  How cool is that?

If you need any more of a reason to support this worthwile charity, then go to the United Way website and check it out for yourself!  http://www.uwswa.org/

Thank you very much!
