The Logistics Academy teacher is Mrs. Jennifer Cowan. Mrs. Cowan's career in education and logistics combines a strong foundation in both fields. A graduate of Theodore High School, Mrs. Cowan began her education studies at Alabama A&M University and continued her academic journey at Faulkner University in Mobile. She later transitioned into the logistics industry.
With five years of experience at International Paper in Bay Minette, Alabama, Mrs. Cowan developed her skills as a planner for the box plant, gaining practical knowledge of logistics operations. She later founded J&Z Freight Logistics LLC, applying her industry expertise to manage and grow her own business.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Cowan has earned recognition for her achievements, including awards for excellence in planning and project management at International Paper. She brings the same commitment to excellence to her teaching, guiding students to achieve their full potential in the logistics field.
In her current role as an educator, Mrs. Cowan focuses on connecting theoretical concepts with real-world logistics applications. Drawing on her professional background, she brings practical insights into the classroom, helping students understand complex logistics systems and develop problem-solving skills. On Thursday, February 19, Theodore High School held its 3rd Learning Launch, a PD for the faculty and staff. The theme for this one: The Olympics! "Going for Gold: Instructional Clarity that Wins!" Teachers reflected on clarity in instruction and participated in Olympics-themed activities that let them show their competitive spirit! The drawing activity emphasized clear instructions for group activities, and the "rock-paper-scissors" for beads was very competitive! Mrs. Lynn's daughter, Abigail, won the bead contest.

Sgt. Winslow served in the United States Army from 1990–2013 as a Supply Sergeant and Army Health Care Recruiter before bringing her leadership and experience into the classroom. She joined Theodore High School as a JROTC substitute in 2014 and officially became an instructor in 2016.

We’re excited to highlight our new Health Science teacher, Ms. Miller, who brings both experience and enthusiasm to our CTE program. She holds a master’s degree in nursing and has been a nurse since 2017. In 2025, she stepped into education to help prepare students for meaningful careers in healthcare.
Before becoming a teacher, Ms. Miller worked as a bedside nurse in acute care, home hospice, and PreOp/PACU. Her real-world experience gives students an authentic look into the many paths available in the healthcare field.
She was inspired to transition into teaching after seeing the growing need for healthcare workers. She loves that students in her program can earn their CNA certification and join the workforce right after graduation. Students who earn their CNA credentials can choose to build a meaningful career as a CNA or further their education in healthcare while using their CNA position to gain experience and earn income throughout college.
Her students enjoy hands-on learning, especially practicing skills and participating in clinicals at the nursing home—a favorite among seniors.
Ms. Miller wishes more students realized how valuable this opportunity is. Graduating high school with the ability to step directly into a well-paying career is something truly special.

At Theodore High School, data drives our instruction and student success. During ACT testing season, our Math, English, Science, History, and Instructional Specialist teams took the opportunity to show off how we use data to guide learning—from our Honor Roll Board and History DBQ data to Mastery Prep math results, MOY testing, and ELA state assessment data. We are proud of the intentional work happening every day to support growth, achievement, and excellence for all students!
January is School Board Member Appreciation Month, and today we were honored to host a special recognition reception in celebration of Mr. Hatcher’s dedicated service. Ms. Smith’s Marine Biology class explored marine anatomy through hands-on dissections of perch, squid, and sharks, building observation skills and a deeper understanding of how marine organisms are adapted to life in the ocean.
We had a great night welcoming students and families to our Academies Open House! Guests visited Academy classrooms to learn more about each program and what they offer. Teachers and students shared hands-on demonstrations, discussed their experiences, and opened their labs for tours and questions. Families also met with administrators to learn more about the BOSS program and dual enrollment opportunities.
Big shoutout to Ms. King for another impactful PD session with our ELA teachers last week. English & Writing Essentials was a hit—thank you for always pouring into Theodore High School with such strong support and expertise!

Tuesday evening at the Academy Showcase held at the Mitchell Center, THS Engineering students Zaccheus Shearls and Madisen Knight presented our signature Academy. Their passion for engineering was evident and held the attention of prospective students and parents alike. Also, JROTC student Hunter McDonald assisted with the district presentation for their program! Outstanding representatives of Bobcat Excellence!
